Following the successful post lockdown start up of all SSA programmes we wanted to share a number of important updates with you.
Season Dates:
The last session for the 2020-2021 season will be on Thursday 15th July 2021.
The 2021-2022 season will commence on Thursday 19th August 2021 (inc. pre-season)
2021-22 Season: Signing on package
Following numerous requests for parents for the monthly travel team payments to be aligned with the beginning of the month, we have created a one off signing on package for next season, which includes the following:
- Player league registration form (£10)
- Full Nike playing kit (top, shorts, socks – £25)
- 2 week travel team membership fees for August (£12.50)
- Signing on package total: £47.50
As we will not be taking any travel team 2020/21 fees in July (payment owed from November) we plan to, with your permission, take this payment on the 15th July. By following this format this then means all players kits can be ordered and prepared for the start of the season and travel team memberships can be then taken from the 1st of the month starting on the 1st of September 2021.
Pre season camps/ Tournaments
Although the season has been extended, through till the June for some teams, we would still like teams to compete in one summer tournament. However, there is an extremely limited number of tournaments available, and only in certain age groups. Therefore, wherever we are not able to offer a tournament to an age group we will be offering a one day travel team camp. We are in the process of coordinating this programme and more details will follow in due course.
Playing Kits for 2021/22 Season
A new kit will be purchased for every player as part of the training package, and given out at the start of the season. We will be sending out a google form in due course in order to collect sizes etc.
Sponsorship
We will be introducing of sponsorship partners over the next month, the following teams are still available to sponsor for 2021/22:
- New Under 8’s
- U10 Coyotes.

Spaces in teams
We currently have a 1 or 2 spaces in the following age groups:
- U7
- U8
- U9
- U10

End of season awards
We are planning, Covid restriction allowing, to run in person award ceremonies on the following days:
- U7-U10 – Saturday 10th July – at Goals between 9am-12pm
- U11-16 – Thursday 8th July – at Furze Lane. 4:30pm – 7pm

And finally……..
Change of directorship
My recent appointment as acting Managing Director of City of Portsmouth College means that, after founding Soccer Scholar Academy 10 years ago, the time has come for me to pass over the reins to Jack Moore to continue to drive the programme we have built together forwards.
Jack will be officially taking over from 1st August 2021, and I will step down from my role.
As both of my children currently play in the pathway, I still have a huge vested interest in the success of the programme and I know that Jack and the team will continue to take it forward on to bigger and better things.
